Tim Strohbach – Research Associate Fraunhofer IFAM
Tim Strohbach studied industrial engineering at the TU Braunschweig and aerospace engineering at the University of Applied Sciences Bremen. After 4 years in research & development for production at Airbus, Tim Strohbach moved to the Fraunhofer Institute for Manufacturing Technology and Applied Materials Research (IFAM).
His main task at the Fraunhofer is to link the know-how available at the institute with new technologies of digitalisation. In this context, "mobile robotics" can play a key role in the future application of surface and coating technologies. Tim Strohbach is therefore working on concepts and demonstrators for detailed inspection (not only visual), surface pre-treatment and repair of coatings in the field with unmanned aerial vehicles. He is additionally employed as an instructor in a drone flight school and is involved in planning and setting up the German Test Centre for Maritime Technologies to test mobile robotics in offshore environments.
