Leibniz Institute for Innovative Microelectronics (IHP)
The Leibniz Institute for Innovative Microelectronics (IHP) is one of the internationally recognized competence centers for silicon-germanium technology and conducts research in the field of drone systems, among other things.
The synergy between a drone technology and a high-precision localization system has been intensively investigated in a number of research projects for several years. The goal is to support localization/positioning during autonomous take-off, flight and landing of drones with an accuracy < 10 cm.
The demonstrator shown in the exhibition demonstrates high-precision distance measurement between two UWB modules with an accuracy of ± 1 cm. This is required as a basis for multilateration (localization).
IHP conducts leading-edge research and development on silicon-based systems, high-frequency circuits, and technologies for wireless and broadband communications. As a transition between basic research and application-oriented applications, the institute makes significant contributions to the innovative strength and innovative capability of Germany and Europe as a business location.
