PhD in soil science. She is a head the Center for Sustainable Agriculture at the Agritech Hub of KazNARU. Her research and academic curricula focus on agriculture, soil and ecosystem processes and their interactive feedback to biophysical and anthropogenic activities, including precision agriculture and conservation biology, and landscape ecology.
Her current research is simultaneously related to the impacts of global climate change and human activity on terrestrial ecosystems, agriculture, the ecology of global changes, greenhouse gas emissions in soil in agricultural use.
At the moment, Dr. Kussainova is the executor of the international project from NASA (USA) in the direction: "The interdependent dynamics of energy, water and food in Kazakhstan and Mongolia" (FEWKazMG), as well as the head of the USAID project on topic: " The effects of excessive water use and agricultural intensification on Aral Sea shrinkage: socioeconomic-environmental systems (SES) dynamics within the Syr Darya River Basin" and on the Kazakhstan project of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Kazakhstan on the topic: "Assessment of the effectiveness of various land use systems to mitigate climate change by reducing gases and an increase in albedo".
